Coming in the May issue of The National Locksmith
There is no question that investing in the proper tool will be richly rewarded in the long run. Time saved by using the right tool makes every service call more profitable, and that is why we devote our May cover topic to various types of Locksmith Tools, all the way from heavy safe moving tools to pocket-sized tools such as lock picks and hinge fixers. Tools are also important when considering the four key elements of access control, which are detailed by Isac Tabib inside the May issue. For automotive locksmithing, Richard Dickey discusses how the 884 Decryptor Mini from Keyline USA makes cloning easy and economical. Digital pages, available exclusively to those receiving the electronic edition of The National Locksmith via your computer or handheld device, reveal secrets of replacing a Jackson 1295 dogging mechanism and various drill jigs and installation tools a locksmith should have in his or her arsenal. The Digital issue also lets you electronically search back issues by key word to find a previous article you need as a resource to complete today’s job. To subscribe to either the print or digital editions of The National Locksmith or The Institutional Locksmith, click the Subscribe box above or call our office, 630-837-2044.

Framon Purchases Blue Dog Keys
Framon Manufacturing Company has purchased the assets of Blue Dog Keys, which ceased operations after the sudden death of its owner, Liam Gribben, last June. Framon plans to enhance the current BDK website, continue relationships with the existing customer base and build the business, including the “Key Detective” side to find odd blanks not provided elsewhere. “Everything is finally back up and running as of March 1st.” said Phil Agius, VP of Sales & Marketing at Framon, “In addition to manufacturing key cutting machines since 1967, we have also operated a full-time locksmith shop since 1965, so we are quite familiar with the various types of key blanks in the industry. Together our employees have over 100 years of experience and we feel BDK will be an excellent fit,” Agius added. www.bluedogkeys.com.
