E-Plex, PowerPlex Achieve Florida Hurricane Standards

The E-Plex 2000 and PowerPlex 2000 Series mortise locks with deadbolt and auto-deadbolt from Kaba ADS have been certified by an approved independent test lab to be compliant to the Florida Building Code (FBC) standards for installation in hurricane regions. Both the E-Plex 2000 and PowerPlex 2000 Series Mortise locks with deadbolt and auto-deadbolt are certified for use in the highest level High Velocity Hurricane Zone areas, including Miami-Dade and Broward counties of Florida. According to Mark Shellberg, product manager, Kaba ADS Americas, “Florida is recognized as a state with the most stringent product requirements for impact resistance, wind resistance, and water intrusion in hurricane-prone regions. And, although this standard is not realized in other coastal states, the FBC standard assures that our E-Plex 2000 and PowerPlex 2000 locks will meet or exceed the standards in all other Atlantic Coast and Gulf Coast states.” In addition to the certification of FBC standards, both the E-Plex 2000 and PowerPlex 2000 locks are ANSI/BMMA Grade 1 certified, meet the Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility standard, and are UL 10C fire-rated. www.kaba-adsamericas.com

Arrow’s new Key Rotation Indicator Rose for use on the QL97 series classroom intruder lockset is a standalone component that retrofits on to the QL97 lockset. The QL is available in an array of finishes and functions, including the 97 “Classroom Intruder” function. The 97 Function uses a key to lock and unlock the door from the inside of a classroom. In an emergency situation, it allows the teacher to use their key to lock the outside lever from inside the classroom thereby preventing unauthorized entry. Because it requires a key, it prevents the students from accidentally locking the teacher out of the classroom. The inside lever is always free for emergency egress. The new Key Rotation Indicator Rose provides direction to which way to turn the key to lock the door in an emergency situation. The Indicator shows teachers that doors are locked. www.arrowlock.com.
